You can fish it like a popper and it makes a very unique hollow Rico-like sound, but it's heavier than a popper so it casts easier. The only think that isnt really a matter to me is that the sound it makes if grass or whatevrr get in it. What it is, is a topwater bait that has a tail like figure on the back that turns in the water and makes a commotion when you reel it in back to the boat. Had another big one throw the lure right next to boat. If you are in the south or out west, this may be different, but on the northeastern part of the states, I would go with the smaller version if you are going after bass only.
